Founded in 2003 by Gail Tusan Washington, the Always Wanted To (“AWT”) Dance Company is still dancing strong! AWT is a community-based celebration of wellness and positive energy. We dance for ourselves, primarily, but will perform for seniors, special events, and other groups as a joyful form of community service. AWT began as a collaborative project which emphasized getting and staying fit through a combination of cardiovascular exercise.
Nearly 17 fun-filled years later our program has grown to consist of dance technique workshops (primarily jazz, modern, and a little hip hop) and many performances including our very special 10 Year AWT Dance Company Tour. Our participants run the full gamut of ages, backgrounds, energy levels, and sensibilities. Yet, all of us are devoted to this sisterhood and take our commitment to AWT very seriously. Over the years, as AWT Dance Company members, we've made new friends, had lots of laughs, hugs, and supported each other through many life changes. The AWT divas have been living out their dancing dreams. What about you? Contact us if you would like more information about our program!
For 17 years, AWT has been and will always be my go-to troupe for dancing, having fun with my "sistas" and overall good times. Since its inception, AWT has provided me the opportunity to experience my "dancing diva self" (and have fun doing it), with others who also have a love for beautiful movement. As long as AWT exists - I'M ALL IN!

I joined AWT Dance for the camaraderie with some great Sistas; but it's the dancing, laughing, exercising & entertaining others that keeps me going & going...

"\Participating in AWT was an exhilirating and rewarding experience. Not only did I get to do something I love - dancing, but I was able to give back to the community, get some exercise in and support my friend. Gail, thank you for the experience and the vision.

I am so thankful for the opportunity of being a part of AWT. It has brought me such joy, the music, participating in something with other women that is so much fun!
